Looking for an alternative to your AI girlfriend app? Here is what actually differs
The four things that genuinely vary between these apps, and the three that every marketing page mentions and nobody notices in use.
People usually go looking for an alternative for one of four reasons: the conversation got repetitive, the pictures stopped looking like her, the bill went up, or the thing they actually wanted turned out not to be included. Those are different problems and they point at different replacements, so it is worth knowing which one you have.
What genuinely differs between these apps
- Memory. Some remember across months, some remember the current conversation, and some remember nothing and hide it well. This is the single largest difference in how a companion feels after week two.
- Whether the face holds. Keeping one character looking like herself across hundreds of generated images is a hard technical problem, and apps solve it to very different standards. It is why she can look perfect on the card and like a stranger in the photo you asked for.
- What is actually generated versus pre-made. Some "live" features are a library of clips shown to everyone. Neither is wrong, but you should know which you are paying for.
- How the money works. Subscription, tokens, or both, and what specifically costs extra. Photos and voice are the two things most often metered separately.
What is on every marketing page and rarely matters
- The number of characters. Past a couple of dozen it stops being a real difference; people settle on one or two.
- The list of features. Half of them are a page that exists rather than a thing that works, in every app in this category including, honestly, parts of ours at various points.
- Model names. Which language model sits underneath matters far less than how the character is written on top of it.
A fair way to compare
Give each app the same three tests: tell her something and come back tomorrow, ask for a photo of something mundane, and find the paywall on purpose. Twenty minutes each, and you will learn more than a week of reading comparisons — including this one.
Where we stand
We would rather tell you what we are than rank ourselves against apps whose prices and features change monthly. Right now there are 78 characters, all made in-house. Photos in chat are three a day free and sixty on premium. Voice works on every message. There is one live cam room and one short film, both produced by us, and we would rather have one of each that works than a menu of things that do not. If any of that is the thing you were missing, it is worth ten minutes of your time. If it is not, one of the others will suit you better and that is a perfectly good outcome.
