Adult AI chat: five things worth checking before you pay
Refusals, crops, metering, storage, and what happens to your account. Test all five before the card comes out.
The adult end of this category is where the gap between the marketing and the product is widest, because the failure modes are awkward to describe and most reviews skip them. Five things to check, all of which take a minute.
1. Does she refuse?
Many apps advertise no limits and then ship a companion who deflects politely. The tell is a reply that changes the subject warmly instead of saying no. Test it early, because it is the hardest thing to fix from the outside and the most common reason people leave.
2. Does the picture contain what you asked for?
The second failure is subtler. The description is right, the model does the work, and the frame is cropped exactly where the interesting part would be. The result technically fulfils the request and shows none of it. Ask for something specific and see whether the frame includes it.
3. What is metered, and how obviously?
Photos and voice are the usual meters. Find out how many you get, whether the count resets daily, and what happens when it runs out. An app that just stops without saying why is common and infuriating.
4. Where do the images live, and who can see them?
Generated images sit on somebody's storage. Whether staff can browse them varies enormously and is rarely stated. Look for an actual answer rather than an assurance. On our side, staff access requires a named moderator, a written reason, and it is logged where the other moderators can read it — not because it is a nice feature but because the alternative is an unlogged filing cabinet.
5. What happens to your account and your history?
Can you delete it properly? Does your conversation survive a lapsed subscription? Ask before you are attached to it.
One thing nobody tells you
The quality of an adult companion is mostly writing, not model choice. The apps that feel best are the ones where somebody sat down and decided who she is, and the ones that feel hollow are usually a good model with nothing written on top.
